The love of Jesus so moves me. It moves me to the pursuit of understanding His love for me and understanding His mandate for me to love others. His infinite love for us despite our actions inspires and challenges me to love those around me in the same manner.
Our relationship with Jesus requires us to grow in love continually. Making our love for God our highest priority, creates more love for ourselves, which allows us to have more love for others. Love, in turn, produces more of the fruit of the spirit in us.
Love is more than a four-letter word. Love is undefinable, unconditional, unending, and uncontainable.
Can we say that what the world needs now is love? Fifty-five years ago, the well-known song was released with these lyrics,
"What the world needs now is love, sweet love.
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love,
No, not just for some but for everyone".
As we reflect on history, the need for more love appears to be relevant to every generation and every decade.
The song's lyrics go on to say, "Lord, we don't need another mountain." How true is that right now? Between politics, racial conflict, and covid, it seems like there are enough mountains to climb.
My prayer for 2021 is to have the grace movement and the holiness movement collide into a beautiful expression of Jesus on earth. Where love meets truth and repentance flows from love.
